Ο Πόλυς Εφραιμίδης γεννήθηκε στο Ερεβάν της Αρμενίας και μεγάλωσε στο Κολχικό Λαγκαδά.
Από πολύ μικρή ηλικία ήρθε σε επαφή με τη μουσική, καθώς μεγάλωσε σε μια ιδιαίτερα μουσικόφιλη οικογένεια. Η πρώτη του επαφή με μουσικό όργανο και το τραγούδι έγινε στα 8 του χρόνια.

Ακολούθησαν έξι χρόνια σπουδών στην κλασική κιθάρα σε ωδεία, ενώ στην ηλικία των δεκατεσσάρων γνώρισε την ποντιακή λύρα στον Ποντιακό Σύλλογο Κολχικού. Είχε την τύχη να μεγαλώσει σε ένα χωριό με πλούσια πολιτιστική κληρονομιά και να έρθει σε επαφή με σημαντικούς εκπροσώπους της ποντιακής μουσικής, ιδιαίτερα από τα Σιμοχώρια της Τραπεζούντας, όπως ο Ανέστης και ο Νάκης Αϊβαζίδης, ο Πόλιος Σωτηριάδης, ο Γιώτης Γαβριηλίδης και πολλοί άλλοι.

Από τα πρώτα χρόνια της ενασχόλησής του με τη λύρα, ξεκίνησε να παίζει στον σύλλογο και να τραγουδάει στα παρακάθια της περιοχής. Πολύ σύντομα ακολούθησαν οι πρώτες του εμφανίσεις σε μαγαζιά και γλέντια συλλόγων.

Η πρώτη του συνεργασία με μεγάλα μαγαζιά της Θεσσαλονίκης ήρθε σε ηλικία 21 ετών, αρχικά στο ιστορικό κέντρο διασκέδασης «Αυλαία» και αργότερα στη μουσική σκηνή «Παρακάθ». Την ίδια εποχή ξεκίνησε και τα ταξίδια του στους συλλόγους της ομογένειας, κυρίως στη Γερμανία, όπου τα επόμενα χρόνια πραγματοποίησε δεκάδες εμφανίσεις, όπως και σε άλλες χώρες, μεταξύ των οποίων η Ελβετία και η Κύπρος.

Εδώ και πολλά χρόνια διδάσκει ποντιακή λύρα σε ωδεία και μουσικές σχολές. Δισκογραφικά έχει συμμετάσχει ως λυράρης και τραγουδιστής σε διάφορους δίσκους, ενώ σύντομα ετοιμάζεται να κυκλοφορήσει και τον προσωπικό του. Είναι επίσης μέλος της μπάντας Banda Tsimerá.

 

Polis Efraimidis was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and grew up in Kolchiko, Langadas, Greece.

From a very young age, he was introduced to music, as he was raised in a family with a deep love for it. His first contact with a musical instrument and singing came at the age of eight.

He went on to study classical guitar for six years at conservatories, and at the age of fourteen he was introduced to the Pontian lyra at the Pontian Association of Kolchiko. He was fortunate to grow up in a village with a rich cultural heritage, where he came into contact with prominent representatives of Pontian music from the Simohoria region of Trabzon, such as Anestis and Nakis Aivazidis, Polios Sotiriadis, Giotis Gavrielidis, and many others.

From the early years of his involvement with the lyra, he began performing with the association and singing at traditional parakathi gatherings in the area. Soon after, he started performing at local venues and cultural festivities.

At the age of 21, he had his first collaborations with major venues in Thessaloniki, initially at the historic entertainment center “Avlaia” and later at the music stage “Parakath.” Around the same time, he began traveling to perform for diaspora associations, especially in Germany, where he gave dozens of concerts over the following years, as well as in other countries such as Switzerland and Cyprus.

For many years now, he has been teaching the Pontian lyra in conservatories and music schools. He has also participated in various recordings as a lyra player and singer, and is currently preparing to release his first solo album. He is also a member of the band Banda Tsimerá.
