Ο Γιώτης Γαβριηλίδης γεννήθηκε στις 31 Αυγούστου 1960 στο Κολχικό Λαγκαδά και δραστηριοποιείται στο χώρο του ποντιακού τραγουδιού περίπου 40 χρόνια. Ο πατέρας του είναι Θρακιώτης στην καταγωγή και έπαιζε αγγείο. Αν και έλκει την ποντιακή του καταγωγή μόνο από την πλευρά της μητέρας του, από μικρός λατρεύει την ποντιακή μουσική και θαυμάζει τον Χρύσανθο. Τα παιδικα του χρόνια ήταν μαζί με παρέες των παλιών καλών λυράρηδων και τραγουδιστών, όπως τον Χρήστο Αϊβαζίδη.

Στην δισκογραφία συμμετέχει σε 23 δίσκους από την πρώτη του δισκογραφική παρουσία με τον Γιωργούλη Κουγιουμτζίδη “Κοντά Στην Παράδοση” το 1987, ένας δίσκος σταθμός στην καριέρα του.

Πέθανε σε ηλικία 60 χρονών στις 6 Ιουνίου, 2020.

 

Giotis Gavriilidis was born on August 31, 1960, in Kolchiko, Langadas, and was active in the field of Pontian music for about 40 years. His father was of Thracian origin and played the aggeio (bagpipe). Although he traced his Pontian roots only through his mother’s side, from a young age he deeply loved Pontian music and admired Chrisanthos. His childhood years were spent among groups of the old, renowned lyra players and singers, such as Christos Aivazidis.

In his discography, he participated in 23 albums, beginning with his first recording appearance alongside Giorgoulis Kougioumtzidis in the album “Konta Stin Paradosi” (“Close to Tradition”) in 1987 — a landmark record in his career.

He passed away at the age of 60 on June 6, 2020.
